How Long Does a Spray Tan Last?
At On The Glo, our spray tans generally last 5-10 days. However, it all depends on your level of activity (how much you shower, shave, sweat, exercise, etc.) as well as how dark you go. The darker you go typically the longer your spray will last. The upkeep following your spray tan also plays a large role in how long your spray tan will last too. Read on to find out how to pro-long your spray tan.
Tip #1: Wait 6-8 Hours to Shower
Waiting six to eight hours after your spray tan will give you skin time to absorb the solution.
Tip #2: Shower Quickly & Not Often
According to Time, “Too much all-over bathing may even raise your risk for some health issues.” After your spray tan session, and prepare to forgo your shower for at least 6-8 hours. When you do take your first post-tan shower, make it a quick one, and limit the harsh soaps and beauty products that are high in PH. After your showers, pat yourself dry, rather than rubbing. Avoid long soaks in the bath and hot tubs.
Tip #4: Moisturize
Keeping your skin moisturized as much as possible following your first post-tan shower will help lock in your color. Drinking plenty of water also helps keep your skin extra moisturized from the inside out! We recommend using Norvell sunless color extender prolong™ lotion for best results.
Tip #5: Avoid Certain Beauty Products
It's best to avoid any facial products that contain alpha hydroxy acid (AHAs) as they can strip your color over time. We also recommend avoiding makeup remover wipes, instead opt for a gentle cleansing water or foaming cleanser. As a general rule of thumb, keep the products you use on your entire body as natural as possible. Avoid beauty products that contain harsh ingredients, such as mineral oils and sulfates.
